Nate Barbour

Nate Barbour – CrossFit Coach

Nate has built his career around his passion for fitness and optimal health. What started as a personal journey to achieve better daily health, and performance in his athletic pursuits, has led into his role as a coach and teacher for those looking to achieve the same. His joy for educating others on the importance of regular exercise, healthy eating, and basic lifestyle practices, allows him to influence people young and old, from complete beginners to Olympic level athletes.

When Nate was introduced to CrossFit, he found that he was surrounded by so many others who shared a similar priority for better health. Through this community, he has seen countless lives changed and lasting friendships built, all in the name of Fitness.

While his higher education and professional certifications have greatly expanded his knowledge in exercise science and human performance, Nate likes to keep it simple when helping others seek lasting positive change. Steady support, encouragement, accountability, and a smile are what you can expect from Nate.

Tim Leonardo

Tim Leonardo – CrossFit Coach

Tim was introduced to Crossfit back in July of 2012 when a group of friends needed to get back into a “team” atmosphere. Ever since then his athleticism has steadily increased. Prior to starting CrossFit, Tim was a high school athlete and went onto to play college lacrosse. He dropped the lacrosse stick and to pursue a career in officiating ice hockey. Tim was able to travel the country in pursuit of making officiating his career. Finding CrossFit, also kept him in shape during the off-season and increased his strength for skating. When things did not work out for him he put all his focus into CrossFit and has never looked back. He has made his strengths stronger and his weaknesses strengths.

Tim has been a member of CFGC since November 2014. He brings experience from coaching previously to joining our team. His cheerful attitude makes coming to CrossFit Garden City a fun and exciting experience. He has passion for what he does and loves to see the daily improvements people are making in their lives to better themselves and the people around them. Tim loves highly skilled movements and will be able to assist whether he is coaching or working out. What Tim loves best about the CFGC community is the comradery we have towards each other. The coaches as well as fellow members are always there to pick you up when you’re down. That is something he would never want to give up.

Adam Visconti – CrossFit Coach

Adam came to CrossFit Garden City with more than ten years of rowing experience, both on the erg and on the water. As a lightweight rower for a men’s varsity four in college, Adam experienced firsthand the power and impact of dedicating time to working out in groups to solidify form, build strength and endurance, and form friendships along the way.

After graduating with his master’s degree in 2013, Adam was looking for a way to stay active, so his brother, Zack, encouraged him to try CrossFit. When Adam moved from Dallas to Garden City later that year, he was humbled and inspired by the caring community of athletes and coaches at CFGC.

Adam is honored to serve the members of CFGC by fostering a supportive and stimulating climate for new rowers, experienced athletes, and everyone in between.

Carrie Rossi

Carrie Rossi – Bootcamp Coach

Fitness has always been a passion of Carrie’s. Helping people achieve their goals and making them feel good about themselves is the most rewarding experience for her.

She discovered CrossFit six years ago and it changed her life. Being trained by Dennis Marshall and Jenn Hunter-Marshall at CrossFit Garden City, she decided to pursue that passion even further.

She started competing in CrossFit and went on to earn her level 1 and level 2 CrossFit certifications. Coaching was a natural transition and the calling she was looking for. Her experiences, passion for health, and motivation to help others have inspired her to develop her Boot Camp program.

Caroline Bond – CrossFit Coach, Adaptive Athlete Coach

Caroline found CrossFit in 2010, wanting to supplement her offseason soccer training. A dedicated athlete, she committed to University of Central Florida as a Goalkeeper before transferring to Eckerd College to finish her athletic and academic career. She credits CrossFit as a catalyst of education and passion in her life. The nutritional education alone proved invaluable, as she was later diagnosed and treated for Chronic Lyme disease in 2012 until 2016. She based her capstone senior thesis on advanced principles of nutritional intervention for modern health & disease, and the proper applications for elite sport performance.

Caroline has long enjoyed working with teams and youth sport athletes. She spent much of her early career coaching in the collegiate world and for prestigious youth soccer development organizations around the country. She joined UCLA’s Athletic Performance staff for a highly competitive season-long internship working with all Olympic Sport teams. She was also given a rare responsibility to direct an eight-week program for UCLA Women’s Soccer Goalkeepers. Upon returning from UCLA, Caroline joined the Sports Performance staff at Hofstra University as their volunteer Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach with all sport teams, while continuing her work in the CrossFit community.

Caroline is CrossFit’s first deaf cochlear implant recipient to be certified CCFT (CF-L3). Her mission is to advance awareness and education of adaptive training principles. She believes quality coaching for adaptive athletes should be as reliable as sunshine or running water: everywhere for everyone.

Patrick McKenna

Patrick McKenna – CrossFit Coach

Pat first discovered CrossFit in 2009 when his friend sent him the link to CrossFit.com  At the time, Pat had recently entered the full-time office world, and fitness had fallen way down on his list of priorities.  Any and all athletic aspirations had diminished to feeble attempts of simply “maintaining” – and he was doing a poor job of it. Thus, the thought of doing the workouts on CrossFit.com seemed laughable.

Fast-forward several months and by sheer chance (or destiny), a CrossFit gym opened up right next to the deli that Pat went for lunch. Remembering the crazy workouts posted on the main site, Pat was curious to see how people actually did this stuff.  With no expectations other than seeing some legit athletes do cool workouts, he walked into the gym.

From the very first day, a fire was lit that burned away Pat’s complacent attitude toward health and fitness. Fitting right into the community at CFGC, Pat fell in love with everything associated with the CrossFit program – the methodology, the movements, the nutrition, the community, etc. His goal of “maintaining” has transformed into a passion for constant improvement.  From that passion has developed a strong desire to pass on his experience to others.

Through the expert guidance of his surrounding coaches, Pat is committed to guiding others beyond their fears and inhibitions, and towards a path of continuous, healthy progress in fitness and life.
